A timeline can be found on the right. Two other timelines put the events into the French and global context. Visitors can also watch nine documentaries about aspects of life in Drancy based on archives and photos.<\/p>\n<h2>Daily life<\/h2>\n<p>A model shows the camp\u2019s layout and several items explain how internees lived day to day. Visitors can see archival documents and watch Patrick Rotman\u2019s documentary La Vie quotidienne (\u201cDaily Life\u201d).<\/p>\n<h2>Deportation<\/h2>\n<p>On this wall, a countdown starting from the time the Germans decided to deport a group of Jews to the logistics involved after the train\u2019s departure spells out the technical details required in planning a transport.<\/p>\n<h2>The children\u2019s home<\/h2>\n<p>This cubical area, which is apart from the rest of the permanent exhibition, has photos and letters children sent from Drancy or threw out of train windows, providing a glimpse into their plight.<\/p>\n<h2>The camp\u2019s final days<\/h2>\n<p>Administrative records and former internees\u2019 video testimonies and documents such as diaries shed light on the days just before the camp\u2019s liberation.<\/p>\n<h2>Testimonies<\/h2>\n<p>Visitors can see items such as a tin plate, sketchbook and laundry bag that belonged to Jews interned at Drancy and watch 30 video testimonies by former internees.<\/p>\n<h2>Constructing the memory of the Drancy camp<\/h2>\n<p>Photos and abundant commentary focus on key dates in the camp\u2019s postwar history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The permanent exhibition focuses on Drancy\u2019s history, the lives of the people interned there from 1941 to 1944 and the deportations from the camp starting in 1942.
